Wire netting ware (kanaami) has been crafted and used in Kyoto for centuries. Using traditional techniques these tea strainers are individually handcrafted in chrysanthemum (kikudashi) and tortoise shell (kikkoami) patterns. They will last for many many years when handled with care and do not require special maintenance. The bright shininess will turn to a darker patina over time when handled regularly and we love ware like this that changes in appearance with use.

The longer handle kanaami strainer has a more shallow basket, and the shorter handle kanaami has a deeper basket.
