Wakoucha - Japanese black tea, from the 15th generation Okutomi family in Sayama, Saitama prefecture. This is a blend of cultivars blended by Okutomi san who explained to us that the specific blend of cultivars he chooses may vary slightly each year.

Using green tea cultivars, Japanese black tea is usually less astringent with more sweetness than normal black tea, resulting in a bright, clear, and smooth flavour profile. This wakoucha definitely follows that description with a light body, bright and smooth flavour with slight floral notes.

Recommended to enjoy straight, which means no need to add milk or sugar. Also great for kyuurei (brewing hot and then pouring over lots of ice) for hot summer days.
